Ollie the pug with his doppelgänger pillows.
Remember Ollie? He’s the adorable pug that was featured in Karen Guard’s graphic pet pillow DIY project in our July-August 2013 issue. After writing the DIY tutorial for the magazine, Guard began selling Ollie pillows at Orange in Carytown, 3007 W. Cary St. On Thursday (May 8) from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Orange will celebrate its one-year anniversary and Ollie will make a special guest appearance.
Come out to meet Guard and Ollie (and take home a cute Ollie button) and a few of Orange’s other artists. The store, opened by Cathy Davis as as an outlet for Richmond’s creative community, has grown tremendously in its first year. When it first opened, it featured the work of just four local artists. Today, more than 65 local artists sell their wares at the store.
The event will feature a bathroom art show with prints by RVA Coffee Stain artist Doug Orleski, Shrinky Dink portraits by Tiffany Ferreira, and party hats designed by all the shop's artists with a competition for the most creative.
