The Sixth Annual Israeli Film Festival features Ronit and Shlomi Elkabetz’s Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem, which won the Israeli Academy of Film’s Ophir Award for best picture.
The heart-wrenching film tells the story of an Israeli woman who must face a religious court in her effort to obtain a divorce (a “gett”) from her estranged husband, who refuses to grant her one.
In Hebrew, French and Arabic with English subtitles, it will be shown at 7 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the Weinstein JCC.
