“So often in the world of performing arts, we are taught to strive for perfection, and we’ve turned this on its side,” says SPARC’s Erin Thomas-Foley, explaining the idea behind the “Live Art” series.
Half of the 250-plus participating students experience some form of disability, so acceptance and support of each other are more important than not making a mistake. Students chose “blue” as this year’s theme because it evokes the blues, bluegrass and elements of sky and water. In “Live Art: Blue,” they’ll share the stage with Grammy-winning blues musician Keb’ Mo’ and other guests.
