The Grammy-winning hip-hop duo of Ben Haggerty, aka Macklemore, and producer Ryan Lewis are hitting the road for a tour that stops at Richmond’s Altria Theater on Jan. 24 (the new date set when heavy snow caused the Jan. 22 show to be postponed).
Tracks on their platinum-selling debut album The Heist include “Same Love,” an anthem for LGBT rights recorded during the 2012 campaign for a referendum that resulted in legalized same-sex marriage in Washington state.
In keeping with the pair’s emphasis on equality and social justice, they’re partnering with the organization Plus One to donate $1 from each ticket sale to Partners in Health, Equal Justice Initiative, Youth Speaks and the 30/30 Project.
