This year, the RVA East End Festival returns to its former location at the 17th Street Market on Sept. 26. The free event supports music and arts programs at Richmond Public Schools’ East End institutions. The festival will feature performances from RPS students and professional musicians, including the Richmond Symphony, No BS! Brass Band, James “Saxsmo” Gates and more.
“The festival aims to connect the greater Richmond region with East End students, families and businesses in Shockoe Bottom,” says Rev. Marilyn Heckstall, festival chair. Its mission, she adds, is to build community “through the power of music.” There will also be food and craft vendors, a kids’ zone, and a dance area.
The event runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
