A tradition since the late 1970s, the PrideFest returns to Brown’s Island for the third time on Sept. 24. Virginia Pride President James Milner expects a turnout of around 15,000, and there will be vendors, entertainment and a children’s section. New beers crafted by Ardent and Center of the Universe breweries will be “married” to create a special Virginia Pride beverage.
Mindful of both the progress that’s been made on gay rights and continuing discrimination and violence, Milner says it’s important “to celebrate the achievements of the LGBT community.”
