Brought to prominence through a reggae cover of Neil Diamond’s “Red Red Wine,” UB40 split into two acts by 2013. There was a bit of acrimony, but Ali Campbell, the voice of UB40’s original stash of hits, and two other founding members splintered off to circulate the band’s island-infused compositions. Their 2014 album, “Silhouette,” delivers Jamaican-indebted tracks, including a Dennis Brown cut that the album takes its name from.
After nearly four decades, Campbell’s ability to helm a band hasn’t been blunted. Neither has the tremolo in his voice. Along with Mickey Virtue and Astro (Terence Wilson), he’ll take the stage at Pocahontas State Park Amphitheater at 6 p.m. on Aug. 18.
