Perhaps the strongest singer from a coterie of grunge-affiliated vocalists who dominated airwaves for the better part of a decade, Chris Cornell has gone and swapped his various amped-up ensembles for contemplative acoustic backing.
His “Higher Truth” album and tour are an approach apart from Cornell’s earlier solo dispatches, not to mention his years as a member of Soundgarden. And wisely, the songwriter’s seen fit to avoid the preciousness of Eddie Vedder’s ukulele avocation.
See him June 22 at the Carpenter Theatre. 7:30 p.m. $58.50 to $99. 592-3400 or richmondcenterstage.com.
