The children's book Amy's Travels , by Kathryn Starke, is providing inspiration for a dance performance by the Latin Ballet of Virginia. Students and instructors will perform cultural dances reflecting the travels of the story's title character. Amy is based on Starke's college suitemate at Longwood University, Amy Panutti, a native of Peru whose father worked as a U.S. diplomat in various posts around the world. Attendees will get to meet the real Amy when Panutti attends one of the shows, Starke says. A reading specialist at Chesterfield County's Evergreen Elementary School, Starke says she was looking for a book that encompassed all seven continents, so she contacted Panutti about her stories. 7 p.m. May 30; 2 p.m. May 31 and June 1. $10 to $15. 356-3876 or latinballet.com .
