Virginia Opera is going back to its roots with Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, which was part of the company’s inaugural season in 1975. Co-produced with Des Moines Metro Opera, this version features Cecilia Violetta López as Violetta, the “fallen woman” of the title, who is in love with a young nobleman in mid-1800s Paris. The daughter of Mexican immigrants, López performed mariachi music as a youngster in Idaho. She earned raves when she took on the role of Violetta for the first time in a New York City production in 2014. 8 p.m. March 27, 2:30 p.m. March 29. $20 to $106. 592-3400 or richmondcenterstage.com.
