The great country singer John Anderson was inducted last year into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, reminding the world that this deep-baritone Floridian is more than just one of the genre’s great contemporary voices. Anderson hit it big with “Swingin’ ” and “Wild and Blue” in 1982, and continued with later hits like “Straight Tequila Night,” but he’s always been able to deliver an individualist spin to the classic cheating song, even when country radio wasn’t listening; his honey-soaked vocals echo vintage heroes like Lefty Frizzell and George Jones while adding a defiantly down-home edge. He and his band will be swingin’ at the Henrico Theatre on May 16 as part of the Old Dominion Barn Dance series. 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. $45 (866) 55TICKETS or olddominionbarndance.webs.com.
