What began as an Aztec ritual 3,000 years ago is now a Richmond tradition eight years running. El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) will be held Oct. 30 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen in conjunction with the Latin Ballet of Virginia. Highlighted by dance performances and Mexican folklore, the event is a Hispanic tradition. Witness a demonstration of the Aztec ceremony with cultural costumes.
Ana Ines King, the Latin Ballet’s founder and artistic director, says the Mexican festivity’s purpose is to ”remember and celebrate loved ones who are no longer with us.”
