Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s “Circus Xtreme” performances March 10-13 at the Richmond Coliseum will be your last chance to see the iconic Asian elephants before they retire in May at the circus’s Center for Elephant Conservation in Florida.
“We set 2018 as a benchmark date and then worked backward from that,” says Stephen Payne, a spokesman for Feld Entertainment. “Thanks to a lot of hard work from the center staff and the animal care team, we found out, ‘Hey, we’re ready now.’ ”
This year’s show at the Richmond Coliseum will have plenty of other attractions, Payne adds. “We have an amazing tiger act, an amazing BMX display, some amazing aerialists who to this day scare me.”
