For the past 35 years, the 43rd Street Festival of the Arts has been a staple of the Richmond community, drawing large crowds to the Forest Hill neighborhood every fall. Potter Robin Cage founded the festival in 1991 to support local artists and gather donations for CARITAS, a nonprofit that provides services for people experiencing homelessness or addiction.
This year’s volunteer-run showcase of creatives takes place on Sept. 12. It features 75 regional artists selling handmade items, including paintings, jewelry, home decor, clothing and ceramics. Festivalgoers can also enjoy live music and food trucks.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. near the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and 43rd Street. Admission is free.
