"The Book of Mormon" returns after a record-breaking 2014 run in Richmond, joined by local premieres of "Elf the Musical" (based on the 2003 Will Ferrell comedy), Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" (originally performed live on television with Julie Andrews in the lead role), "Beautiful: the Carole King Musical" (featuring such hits by the singer-songwriter as "One Fine Day," "The Loco-Motion," and "You've Got a Friend") and last, but not least: "Kinky Boots," based on the 2005 film about a British shoe factory owner who teams up with a drag queen to help boost business (a true story), and featuring music by pop star Cyndi Lauper — her first time writing for theater. The show won six Tony awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. (Scroll down to watch a preview.)
