Richmond finally has a superhero of its own, The Traveler, and he was co-created by Stan Lee, the legendary comic-book writer who helped generate most of Marvel Comics' biggest characters, from Spider-Man to Iron Man. Artist Chad Hardin and writer Mark Waid, a Manchester High School grad, round out the creative team for The Traveler , and it was Waid's idea to base the comic book in River City. (Look for a cameo by Sunset Lanes bowling alley in the second issue, and Waid hints that his time-traveling hero probably lives in the Fan.) "I'm not aware of any other Richmond-area heroes," Waid says, "but let's hope this opens the floodgates." For more information, visit boom-studios.net.
