Shortly after a liver transplant saved her brother's life in 2007, Richmond resident Amy Capistran, 35, started working for the National Kidney Foundation. "I saw that part of the mission was to increase donation and it seemed like a good fit," Capistran says. So when her friend, Melissa Grubbs, posted a message on Facebook that her 2-year-old son needed a kidney, Capistran offered hers. "When I get to see pictures of Noah opening his gifts at Christmas, it's like you don't even remember the pain," says Capistran (pictured, with Noah). On April 30, she'll strut the catwalk with about 15 other organ donors and recipients at the National Kidney Foundation's third annual Style for Life fashion show and champagne brunch. The event features spring fashions from Dillard's, and all of the proceeds go to the National Kidney Foundation. For more information, call 288-8342 or e-mail email@example.com.
