As if the Kate Spade store hasn’t increased my already-frequent temptations to visit Short Pump Town Center enough (p.s. there is 25-percent-off sale online or in-store at Kate Spade with the code “MORESALE”), even more shops are set to open there. Versona Accessories opens this Thursday. This is a value- and trend-oriented boutique that's focused on jewelry, but also carries other accessories like purses and shoes, and some clothing. Sounds like it’ll be that fun shop where you can go grab something to top off a new outfit without breaking the bank.
Also opening very soon is LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics. I must admit, I’m pretty stoked that Richmond will soon have its very own selection of these bath and body products, which are made using fresh ingredients so they have a higher concentration of vitamins, minerals and proteins. I’ve been a longtime fan of the Shower Smoothies, which are soaps with the texture of a lotion so they moisturize and cleanse at the same time. Not to mention, this is a great go-to spot for pre-packaged gift sets for almost any occasion.
Scheduled to open in early July is Altar’d State, a stylish women's clothing boutique with a mission. The shop owners donate 1 percent of all sales to local and international charities, fund employee volunteer hours each month and choose vendor partners who share their mission. Not to mention, their clothing is super cute. I’m definitely interested in checking this store out in person.
Lastly, Soft Surroundings is a shop that started as a catalog-only business in 1999, and opened its first boutique in 2005. The St. Louis-based company specializes in stylish-yet-comfortable apparel, and also sells skin-care products, jewelry, accessories and home furnishings. There hasn’t been a set opening date yet, but I’ll keep you posted. For a preview, here's a video of their store opening at King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania. The Short Pump locations will be the company's 13th, and the first of a six-store expansion planned for this year.
