Design Consign, the eclectic consignment shop owned by the bubbly and delightful Jan Baugh, is in the midst of a sizzling mid-summer sale at the shop at 1101 Midlothian Turnpike.
So is Sassy Bee, the personalization-paradise of a store nestled not far from Design Consign at 11400 Huguenot Road. Sassy Bee is owned by tennis and gift aficionado Cassie Omohundro, whose keen eye for preppy wares, doesn’t disappoint — and neither does her sale.
Both stores’ mid-summer sales run through Saturday, Aug. 1.
At Design Consign, you’re invited to take an extra 10 percent off everything they’re calling “summer" (and the term is broadly defined) in the 5,000 square-foot shop. There are beach-themed mirrors and lamps, porch rockers, pictures, fun, flamboyant flamingo pink dishes and jazzy zebra garden stools (pictured above).
Sassy Bee’s mid-summer sale offers 20- to 75-percent off select items, ones they call, “pretty preppy pieces perfect for back to school.”
Their sale includes items from favorite Richmond brands like Scout , Sloane Ranger, Nora Fleming, and Coton Colors — whose “Happy everything!” platters adeptly sum up Sassy Bee’s celebratory vibe. (By the way, these platters along with Coton Colors’ big cookie jars are 25 percent off during the sale.)
Save 20 percent on all of Scout’s anchor patterns. You can also get a free Scout gift when you spend $50. Discover Nora Fleming’s new tissue box covers and soap dispensers. They’re now 25 percent off. It’s fun to add Fleming’s interchangeable “minis” (ceramic attachments representing every season, sport and event) to these pieces, along with her trays and dishes.
I’m a big fan of Sloane Ranger. Pictured above is this “British It Girl” line’s wallet in the “Windsor Whale” pattern. Sassy Bee is offering 25 percent off all in-stock merchandise, this wallet included. Now through Aug. 1, it’s $22.50 instead of $30.
