Part talk show, part inside baseball for local scribes, James River Writers’ Aug. 26 edition of “The Writing Show” is set to pay homage to literary Virginia. Local author Karen A. Chase will moderate the event’s topic, “Writing Virginia Into Fiction,” alongside guests Kathleen Grissom, New York Times bestselling author of The Kitchen House, Andy Edmunds of the Virginia Film Office and writer and director April Marcell. “Virginia has so much to offer,” says Katharine Herndon, the host organization’s executive director, citing a strong writing community that draws inspiration from the commonwealth. Firehouse Theatre, 6 to 9 p.m. $15. 433-3790 or jamesriverwriters.org.
